The start of June is always an exciting time for those in the LGBTQ+ community as it is the beginning of Pride Month.
Pride month is currently celebrated during the month of June each year in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.
The Stonewall uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.
Today celebrations include pride parades, picnics ,parties, workshops, concerts and LGBTQ+ Pride Month attracts millions of participants from around the world. The purpose of the month is to show support and to recognize the impact the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on histroy locally, nationally and internationally.
Here at POG for the month of June all our Pog’s have now turned purple which symbolises Equality! This is something very close to our hearts.
Pride Month Events:
Even though we can not celebrate Pride month in person this year doesn’t mean Dublin Pride doesn't have some great things in store.
This year the amazing organizers have ‘Dublin Pride Tv’, watch a whole month of pride themed events live from the comfort of your home.
Every Year our Pride Parade is held on the last Saturday in June. This year it is no different as we still have our Pride Parade and Pride Concert on Saturday June 26th.
A full line-up of what to expect can be found at Dublin Pride.
Here at POG we stand with the LGBTQ+ community and we are proud to do so!
